Friday night brought us to Kirton Town Hall Live in Kirton-in-Lindsey Lincolnshire. We pulled up in front of a beautiful hall and were greeted by the ever gracious and welcoming Brian Chudley. Brian showed us around the hall and got us loaded into the performance space where Ani & Gerry McNiece already had the gear set up and ready for us. Soon we had shared a cup of tea and had our sound check over with. Gerry and Ani were so efficient, accommodating and cheerful! Brilliant team.
While all this was going on Pam Chudley, Brian's wife was hard at work preparing our dinner downstairs. Two varieties of lasagne, chicken curry with rice, gorgeous salad, and to top it off not one but two kinds of cake! We met our support act Phil & Rob from "Slightly less than 1/2 Route de Django", then all of us musicians, organisers and volunteers sat down together to eat. What a wonderful start to a cracking night!
The programme started with a great set from Route de Django. As their name might suggest they treated us to some Hot Club style Gypsy Jazz. Great playing from two lovely guys.
When it was our turn to hit the stage we were greeted by a very lively responsive audience who clearly love their music! A spectacular evening for us. Many thanks to the whole team for such a fantastic experience! Little birds are chirping about a return visit in the fall of 2018 so stay tuned!
